The influence is obvious. Not just with the main theme, but all of Metal Gear Solid 3 plays on it being a James Bond flick. Are we not going to have the opening sequence be just like what you'd find at the start of the movies? Of course not. The song makes a reappearance near the end of the game, where you most climb an absurdly long ladder. Yes, in real time, and takes up the entire length of the song. One of the iconic moments in video games, and MGS3 has a lot of them.

Myself and many others have had irreparable alterations to the brain after hearing this song so many times. When you see a big a ladder, the words "What a thrill..." automatically invades the mind.
